PSG vs Flamengo Intercontinental Cup Final Preview & Betting Tips

2025-12-16

Paris Saint-Germain fulfilled the dream of their wealthy owners last spring – they became champions of Europe in a final that will be remembered for years, dismantling Inter, and now they will have the chance to crown themselves the best team in the world.

PSG vs Flamengo Intercontinental Cup final match preview in Qatar

Against the champions of South America, Luis Enrique’s side will be chasing another prestigious international trophy. One already slipped through their fingers this summer – the Club World Cup, where they were beaten 3–0 by Chelsea – while in Ligue 1 they currently sit behind RC Lens after 16 rounds.

In a season where they won almost everything, PSG have shown a few early cracks, and now they face a team in excellent form, packed with players who have worn the shirts of Europe’s biggest clubs – former Real Madrid, Manchester City and long-time Juventus defender Danilo, as well as Jorginho, the Brazilian-born midfielder who played for Italy, won the European Championship, and spent years at Chelsea and Arsenal.

PSG do not have good memories against Brazilian teams. In their only previous match against a club from the land of football, they lost 1–0 to Botafogo at their first Club World Cup.

Flamengo reached the final – which PSG entered directly – by first beating Cruz Azul 2–1 and then defeating Egypt’s Pyramids 2–0.

They are coached by another legend, former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea player Filipe Luís. His team have lost just one match since November, while winning both the Copa Libertadores and the Brasileiro Série A within the space of seven days.

Flamengo arrive unbeaten in their last three competitive away matches. This will also be a historic occasion for them – their first-ever game against a French side. At this summer’s Club World Cup, they defeated eventual champions Chelsea 3–1, before being knocked out by Bayern Munich in a 4–2 defeat.

PSG will be weakened, as Achraf Hakimi will miss the final. Lucas Chevalier is back, while Ousmane Dembélé is also expected to play after missing the weekend match against Metz.

How to Bet on the Intercontinental Cup Final?

PSG currently enter the final as favourites, with odds on a Paris Saint-Germain win at around 1.65 on tether.bet at the moment (odds subject to change).

Finals like this are often tight and cautious, but PSG are an attacking team, while Flamengo have already shown they know how to play against sides that are favourites on paper.

Both Teams to Score looks like a popular option for bettors, and it is also worth remembering that this match does not have to be decided within 90 minutes, which makes live betting especially attractive for more experienced players.
