Friday 23 August

PSG vs Montpellier

PSG started their Ligue 1 campaign with a dominant 4-1 win over Le Havre. Manager Luis Enrique admitted that his team eased off after an early goal, something he’ll aim to correct against Montpellier.

With a strong home record and a history of high-scoring games at Parc des Princes, PSG will be looking to maintain their dominance.

Montpellier, on the other hand, are on a ten-game losing streak against Paris team, often suffering heavy defeats. They’ll need a top performance to avoid a similar fate this weekend.

Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Bayer Leverkusen

Borussia Mönchengladbach open their season with hopes of a better campaign after finishing 14th last year. They have a decent record in Bundesliga openers but they will clash invincible team from last season.

Leverkusen, having won a DFB Supercup, enters the season as defending champions but have a mixed record in season openers.

Sevilla vs Villarreal

Sevilla began their La Liga campaign with a frustrating 2-2 draw, having twice lost the lead.

New manager García Pimienta will hope to turn things around in his home debut, after horrible season former UEFA Europa League winner had.

Sevilla has strong home record against Villarreal.

Villarreal also drew 2-2 last weekend, and they’ll be looking to tighten up defensively while continuing their goal-scoring form. Villarreall hasn't won in Sevilla since 2019.

Saturday 24 August

Aston Villa vs Arsenal

Aston Villa started their season with a late win against West Ham, and they’ll aim to build on that momentum against Arsenal.

Villa have been strong at home, losing just three of their last 26 league games at Villa Park.

Arsenal, however, are on a nine-match unbeaten run away from home, with a strong defensive record which helped them to fight for the Premier League title until last Matchday of the last season.

This match could be a tight clash, with both teams capable of scoring goals.

Lyon vs Monaco

Lyon suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat in their opener, bringing back memories of their poor start from last season.

The French giants will look to avoid another loss, especially at home, where they’ve been strong against Monaco in recent years.

Monaco started their campaign with a narrow win and will be looking to maintain their momentum.

Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Dortmund begin their Bundesliga season with high hopes after a disappointing fifth-place finish last year.

New coach Nuri Şahin, promoted from assistant, will lead the team in his first competitive match in charge.

Champions League finalists from 2024 have a strong record against Frankfurt, who ended last season with a poor away form.

This match could see plenty of goals, given the attacking talent on both sides and philosophy of playing to score goal, rather than just defend own.

Barcelona vs Athletic Bilbao

Barcelona came from behind to win their opener. New manager Hansi Flick will be keen to maintain their momentum as they face tough and talented Athletic Bilbao.

The Catalans have incredible home record against Bilbao, not losing since 2001.

Sunday 25 August

Liverpool vs Brentford

Arne Slot’s Liverpool time began with a comfortable 2-0 win, extending their impressive August record.

Slot’s first Anfield game will be a test, as Liverpool aim to maintain their good home form.

Brentford will look to upset the odds at Anfield. They’ve strengthened their squad with former Liverpool player Fabio Carvalho, which could make this an interesting matchup.

Wolfsburg vs Bayern Munich

Wolfsburg, now led by Ralph Hasenhüttl, aim to start strong after last season’s struggles.

Bayern Munich, now coached by Vincent Kompany, are starting their redemption season, after losing their Bundesliga crown.

Bayern have dominated this fixture historically, and they’ll be eager to start the season with a win.

Real Madrid vs Valladolid

Real Madrid face Valladolid after a frustrating 1-1 draw in their opener.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are unbeaten in 28 matches and will look to extend that run at home. Valladolid, despite winning their opener, face a tough challenge at the Bernabéu, where Real fans will have chance to see Kylan Mbappe for the first time playing at famoust stadium.
