The 2025/26 Premier League season will officially kick off tonight, with Liverpool hosting Bournemouth at Anfield.

The chase for the most prestigious domestic trophy in world football begins!

Premier League 2025/26 - Impossible to Predict!

The Premier League has long held the status of the strongest league in the world, and this season should once again justify that reputation.

At least ten clubs will be fighting for European spots, with spending power that surpasses entire top divisions in other countries. This financial muscle comes largely from global broadcasting deals, whose audience numbers are far beyond the reach of any other league.

The campaign had a spectacular curtain-raiser in the Community Shield, with Crystal Palace lifting the trophy after beating Liverpool on penalties.

All the ingredients for a thrilling season are in place.

Half the League chasing Europe

If there are no major surprises, the title race should be a three-way battle.

Liverpool will defend their crown and, having strengthened even further this summer, start as slight favourites for top spot.

Arsenal and Manchester City are expected to be their main challengers. After three consecutive second-place finishes, the Gunners – boosted by Viktor Gyökeres – will look to end a title drought of over 20 years.

City, coming off a disastrous campaign, have regrouped and reinforced, and will be aiming to return to their dominant best. The big question is how quickly the new signings can adapt to Pep Guardiola’s demands.

Top 5 Premier League transfers

  • Florian Wirtz (Liverpool – Bayer Leverkusen) – €125 million
  • Hugo Ekitike (Liverpool – Eintracht Frankfurt) – €80 million
  • Benjamin Šeško (Manchester United – Sporting CP) – €76.5 million
  • Bryan Mbeumo (Manchester United – Brentford) – €75 million
  • Martín Zubimendi (Arsenal – Real Sociedad) – €70 million

Chelsea will be lurking in the background, aiming for a comfortable top-four finish – and perhaps even a late push for the title if results go their way.

Manchester United are also expected to improve under Ruben Amorim, but it’s difficult to predict their ceiling after two seasons to forget.

Behind them, clubs like Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle have the quality to upset the favourites and secure European qualification. Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth are also dangerous sides who could enjoy deep runs in the cup competitions.

The fight for survival – and a share of the prize money

The rest of the league will be battling for mid-table security and survival. The big question is whether any of the newly-promoted sides, Sunderland, Leeds and Burnley, can survive their first season.

Last year, all three promoted teams went straight back down, underlining the huge gap between the Championship and the Premier League.

Wolves are seen as the strongest candidate to break that trend, while Everton remain stuck in a rut they have failed to escape for several years.

There’s also intrigue at Brentford following the departure of long-time manager Thomas Frank, who had guided them to safety year after year.

Sunderland are tipped by many to finish bottom – but play-off winners have often been better equipped to survive than clubs promoted automatically.
