UEFA Prize Money 2024/25: Full Club Earnings List Revealed

2025-06-02

The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League season wasn’t just historic because PSG finally got their hands on the big-eared trophy. It was also the richest campaign in the competition’s history.

With the new Swiss-style league format in full swing and more games than ever, the cash flowed like never before. A total of over €2.4 billion was shared among the clubs, unofficially confirmed by data shared by

At the top of the pile? No surprises there: Paris Saint-Germain raked in a staggering €148.4 million, edging out Inter Milan (€136.6m) and Arsenal (€117.0m). Even Barcelona, amid off-pitch turbulence, pulled in €110.7m, while Bayern, Dortmund and Real Madrid all cracked the €100m mark.

This wasn’t just about the final. UEFA’s revamped format - a bigger league stage, more games, more drama - also meant fatter TV deals, heavier market pool shares, and performance bonuses across the board. More football equals more money. Simple as that.

How Much Did UEFA Hand Out?

Based on the full club breakdown, €2.4 billion (unofficial total) was split across over 90 clubs from the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. That’s a serious upgrade compared to previous seasons. For reference, in 2022/23, UEFA distributed around €2.03 billion across its three club competitions — meaning this season saw a jump of over €370 million.

UEFA’s move to the so-called “Swiss model” - essentially a single-table league format with more group stage fixtures — allowed for a larger pool of matches to monetise. More matches = more rights sold = more broadcast dough. Clubs loved it. Broadcasters loved it. Fans? Well, depends who you ask.

Winners, Losers, and the Middle Pack

Here’s a quick look at how the riches were sliced up:

  • PSG (€148.4m) finally backed up years of investment with continental silverware — and a healthy cheque to match.
  • Inter (€136.6m) proved Italian football is back in business.
  • Aston Villa (€83.7m) and Bayer Leverkusen (€87.1m) cashed in big thanks to deep runs and strong coefficients.
  • Manchester United (€36.4m) might want to sit this one out. Earning less than Young Boys and Dinamo Zagreb is not exactly something to frame at Carrington.

Notable also is the breadth of distribution - clubs from Slovakia (Slovan Bratislava, €22.9m) to Bosnia (Borac Banja Luka, €5.4m) and Armenia (Pyunik, €4.7m) all got their slice. The pyramid is far from equal, but the money is trickling down more than ever.

It pays to be in the Champions League – Slovan Bratislava, with zero points in the group stage, earned as much as Conference League winners Chelsea!

UEFA’s Big Bang Format Works - For Now

UEFA took a massive gamble changing the format. The old group stage is gone. In comes a single 36-team league table with each club playing 8 matches against different opponents — a system inspired by Swiss tournaments.

The results? So far, so good — commercially at least. Clubs played more games. TV slots increased. And top fixtures came earlier in the calendar.

But the strain is real. Players are feeling it. Fans are mixed. And let’s not forget: the 2025 Club World Cup is right around the corner. This summer, 32 clubs will head to the USA for FIFA’s inaugural expanded version of the tournament. No time for rest!

No Summer Break, No Problem?

With the Champions League final barely in the rearview mirror, clubs like PSG, Real Madrid, Man City, and Chelsea are already prepping for the Club World Cup in the States. It’s another potential goldmine, but it means zero downtime for players.

For the clubs that went deep into the UCL, this is a logistical and physical headache. For fans, it’s more football. For UEFA, it’s proof that their clubs are the centre of gravity in global football.

A New Era of Club Football?

The 2024/25 season may well be remembered as a turning point: the year UEFA went all-in on the Swiss model, the year PSG finally lifted the trophy, and the year the money reached record highs.

From record-breaking payouts to a jam-packed fixture list, this was football at its most extreme. The message from UEFA is loud and clear: there’s no going back.

Now the only question is: can the clubs keep up?
